Stockings on Christmas Eve – One constant in all celebrations has been the hanging of stockings on Christmas Eve. Even through we spent 10 actual holidays away from our home, we still hung our stockings (documented every year with photographs) before we left. This tradition, handed down from my mother, is a marking of time and the changes that come throughout the years. I continue to hang my daughter Dani’s stocking even now, eight years after her death as she remains a part of our heart and memories. Holding fast to memories and traditions keeps a connection beyond physical presence.
